spring dreams

we’re looking at a full week of weather in the mid to high 70*s, and with the time change, i have spring on my mind!  when i think of spring i tend to want to spruce up my outdoor spaces, like our front porch and our back yard.  as always, pinterest is a great place to get lost in inspiration!

{click on each pic for the link}

we have a couple old benches in our back yard that i’d love to paint like this.  actually, our neighbors just gave us a picnic table and benches (i know – awesome!) that could use a fresh coat or 5 of paint!

i love everything about these planter boxes:  bright colors, weathered wood, graphic prints

we have a raised tier in our backyard that is begging for some creative use.  i’d love to do something like this on a smaller scale for my kids.

we have stacks of flagstone waiting to be used at our house and a nice spot in our front yard for a great patio just like this!

we are blessed to have a bright sunny back yard, but not so much shade.  i have a few areas i’d love to have pergolas for some light shade.

we’ve used cecile bruner roses in past homes and love how quickly they grow and spread, and also how forgiving they are to lack of care.  i’m hoping to plant a couple of these at the base of our garage doors and maybe our imaginary pergolas ;)

our front porch has to be waterproof since we have storage underneath it, but the waterproofing material looks like fleshy cottage cheese and i haaaaaate it.  since my husband’s company works a lot with concrete resurfacing and coating, i’m hoping i can convince them to try this out on our porch.  wish me luck.

here’s the current state of our front yard.  if you remember it from the past, it has come a long way!  we (mostly my parents) are slowly chipping away at projects in the front yard and we may actually see something growing up there other than weeds this spring!  that would be a first in 6 years!

i know many of you are still buried in snow, but we can all dream.   do you have any big plans for spring?

Love the pics. You have to do the outdoor playhouse for the kids! But, I am sure if they see this post they will ask for the same thing. so cute!

Oh dear pinterest, how you make us dream. But don’t you just love the source of inspiration it gave us. I love the planter idea, it’s very pretty and colorful :-)

I have always wanted to gorw roses up and around the garage door like that! That playhouse would be wonderful!

Oh the dreams I have for this Spring! New “pets” for our little suburban farm, maybe fruit trees? Most of all I want to hear the buzzing right under my porch – but getting a beehive in the city might be just too much for the neighbors… all the dreams I have ;-)

I WISH that our yard looked like yours does! Ours is full of lots of dead and overgrown trees that need to be out pronto! But I love the pergola! I wish I had a place for it right now!!

I’m pretty sure every picture in this post is in my pinterest board! Or if it isn’t, it should be :) Is it Spring yet?!

I love the raised tier in the backyard for the kids, as well as cecile bruner roses. Love the roses over the garage idea. We have wanted a pergola in our backyard so I sent that link to my husband. :-)

Luv your taste, same as mine. I think that tent room would be a great office in the summer.

    Thanks for sharing hon.

The front of my house looks just like yours! We’ve lived here for 2 1/2 years and our landscaping is non existent (we did have some but had to rip it all out)! My in-laws graciously gave us money for landscaping as a Christmas present though so once it gets warmer here we are all on it! I even had a woman I recently met ask me if we just moved in because we didn’t have any landscaping…so embarrassing! :)

I just love all of your pinterest pic ideas! Like you, I am so happy it is warming up this coming week. And your inspiration pics have me motivated to do a bit of sprucing up myself! Home Depot and Loews, here I come! :)

Our backyard is our next big project. We are even having a big dumpster being delivered on monday so we can get rid of an old fence, dead bushes, etc! I told the hubby I want it done by our daughter’s first birthday (in june) so we can have a party. I love having concrete deadlines!

LOVE LOVE!!! I’m definitely on the look out for box planter now and I really like that you won’t have to add pillows or a cushion (unless you want to) to that bench. It has all the statement you need. Thanks for sharing your fun finds!

You have such a darling house, Lindsey! I need to get to work on our curb appeal PRONTO. Thanks for the inspiration and I hope to meet you at Blissdom next week!
