entryway update

entryway update at the pleated poppy

sometimes i get in the mood to switch things around, and that mood usually strikes when its the last thing i have time for!

our entry way was getting a little bare as i was grabbing pieces from it and moving them elsewhere around the house.

as you can see, our front door opens right into our living room (thats the back of our couch facing the fireplace), so this back wall is our “entryway”.

my newest inspiration to update the wall was the round turquoise piece.  i found it a couple weeks ago while thrifting up by my parents’ house – it used to be a metal table top.  i bought the san clemente sign when we lived there when sean and i were first married.  the pic of the kids is one of my favorites by my friend cameron.

i didn’t change a whole lot from my last adjustment, but somethings work so well its too good to change!  the painting is one i did a couple years ago, and the beautiful verse print is from my friend dee at red letter words.  the pretty rose print is from katie daisy.

my sweet friend joy gave me these awesome vintage spools of thread.  she knows me so well!  they are every kind of pretty!

and since we neglected to build a coat closet in our house, these hooks step in and do the trick!  i bought the 6 random hooks at anthropologie.

the leather box under the hooks holds my magazines.  the yellow dresser is our big work horse:  it houses all the kids’ art and craft supplies, and all of the wooden trains and tracks in the bottom 3 drawers.  because it has been determined that the entryway is the best place to set up elaborate train tracks ;)  i love when little friends come over to our house and go straight to those bottom drawers!

What a gorgeous entry. The cheerful quality is what really draws my eye in. It reminds me a bit of Flower Patch Farm Girl’s entry from about a year ago. Beautiful!

Hi Lindsay. We met at Cameron’s party awhile back. I have a question about your paint color. I’m looking for a grey paint and that color looks exactly like what I have in mind. But the name is throwing me off. Does it look green in some lights or is that just inthe name? I want a pretty true grey without any blue or green. Just curious how it looks in different lighting. Thanks!
