linking up my weekly phone pics with jeannett!  i’m thepleatedpoppy on instagram if you want to follow along!

for some reason, instagram has been kicking me off all week when i try to add a picture – so annoying!  so i’ve been a little more quiet than usual there (this is 2 weeks worth of pics, btw).

my word of the year is balance.  i’m working everyday to get closer to it!  big changes are coming, and i’m hoping i’ll be able to share them in a couple weeks!

i serve pizza every wednesday at the kids’ school and every year my pizza serving partner gets mea sweet christmas gift.  this year she gave me sipping chocolate in a fun package with all the fixings!  we have been enjoying it every night as a family.

our church has challenged us to commit to a scripture reading plan.  we’re doing a series called route 66, walking us through the books of the bible, 1 0r so a week, and seeing the gospel story woven throughout it.  we’re doing it as a family, which slows the reading down a bit (on top of all our homeschool reading!).  while we’re not on track to be reading through a whole book each week, we have read every day for the last almost 2 weeks!  we’re keeping a somewhat regular ritual of reading at breakfast, then again before bed with a warm cup of the or hot chocolate.  its been really fun!

i work at fred & betty’s, our school’s thrift store, about once a week and i love it!  i get to work on the window installments and floor displays.  its fun getting to see all the fun things that are coming through the shop!

since my long break at christmas, i have been making a huge push with new products!  every spare minute i get i’m pulling together new combos of fabrics and recreating old ones – it has been so fun!

last weekend i hosted a shower for a friend.  all i knew was that i wanted navy blue details (i was seriously lacking inspiration!).  i contacted the lemon drop shop for help and what she sent me was perfect: striped straws, party favor bags, and baker’s twine.

at the last minute, we pulled the shower together!  i’ll share details next week!

if you’re anywhere but the west coast, go ahead and hate me.  its been in the mid 80*s here all week.  whir the weather itself is beautiful, i would really like an actual winter this year!  it is so stink in’ warm!  so warm, actually, that we have scheduled some time for the beach tomorrow!

gracie stole away with her chalk pastels to the sidewalk and i checked in on her progress when she had an outline done.  then she ran in to the house to bring me to her finished drawing – how fun is that?!

what’s your weekend going to hold?  we have family in town and are excited to play with cousins!

I’ll trade places with you – you can have all the winter you want, it’s 21 degrees right now! I’ll take the 80 degree temperatures 24/7/365! Yes, I’m still trying to figure out why I haven’t moved & still live where winter is really (horribly) winter, I’m working on that. Love your blog & all your products too – that new market tote is awfully cute. :)

I love your dates on Mondays. My husband & I haven’t had a daytime date in a long time but I think that we are due very soon to have breakfast out or lunch. Us eastcoasters are very jealous about your warmer winter. It is going to be in the teens & 20’s this week so I’m wishing that we could trade places for a few days. LOVED the sidewalk art. Your daughter has some serious talent there!
