what i wore

wiww

welcome to what i wore!  this is a weekly post where i simply show you my outfits from the week.  i’m a real mom, i home school my kids part time, and work from home when they’re at school twice a week.  i don’t have an enormous clothing budget, and love to find new ways to mix and match items already in my closet.  if you’re looking for high end fashion, you’re sure to be disappointed!  but if you need a little kick in the yoga pants to get you out of your rut, well then i’m your girl!

when it comes to fashion and faith, well, it can get a little tricky.  for me, modesty always comes first (and i know we all have different definitions of modesty!).  i, by no means, want to overemphasize the importance of outer beauty, but how we look does play a part in how we feel about ourselves throughout the day.  when we are happy with how we look, we feel better about ourselves.  honestly, i hate that that is true, but it is.  but another big reason for me to get dressed every day:  my husband.  he has never requested that i get out of my pi’s or sweats, but he definitely comments when he likes what he sees!  i think getting dressed ever day is good for my marriage and honoring to my husband.

do you struggle with the motivation to get into real clothes?  do you just love finding new fashion ideas?  well, look over all the links below and link up yourself once you are brave enough!

You are a beautiful lady and could call much more attention to yourself than you do. I think you are absolutely right that when we dress well we feel well and vice versa.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with that though, we should all be encouraged to be our best selves, not for the sake of vanity but for the sake of spirituality. THe saying “cleanliness is next to Godliness” holds true because when we take care of ourselves we send a message to the world that we love ourselves and are “worth it”.

That’s why on my blog I started a street style series photographing NORMAL women that I see around Italy who put in the extra effort everyday, I notice them and they inspire me and may inspire others to be their best.

Lindsey I can’t believe you have a dress that is older than your children!!! It is timeless and looks amazing on you. I think I would wear it everyday if I had a dress I looked that amazing in.

I LOVE that rose necklace. It looks great with both outfits. That polka dot blazer is cute too.

Very well explained – I concur with your opening paragraphs. I have 4 boys so we love camo around here, but I like the baseball shirt (which i think i would wear just about any day) ensemble as well. Cute, cute! :)

Everything you said resonates with me. I make an effort because I like to feel pretty, I get more done and it just feels good. Last week, I made an effort only because my hubby was on his way home from a business trip. Even if he doesn’t care, it matters to me. You always look adorable and are an inspiration to so many of us mamas!

Thanks for the link-up and may I say your hair is so gorgeous!!! I’m trying desperately to grow mine out but I keep finding myself cutting it shoulder length. I also love that you get dressed up every day. I make every attempt to do the same. I do it for me. It makes me feel good about myself because we all know that fixing yourself up does a lot for your self esteem.

    Have a lovely day!!

These are super cute outfits! What I I love most is how you reuse and recycle your clothes. When you are shopping for pieces do you purposely look for things that are classic and you can incorporate with what you already have? I honesty love that you dress how you design your hime. It’s all so natural. Does that make sense? :) Thanks for you and your wonderful blog.

    • 21

thanks lynn – actually that totally makes sense! when i’m shopping, i’m kind of all over the place! sometimes i’m going for a classic (like a recently purchased grey v-neck sweater), but other times i want something to pop, so i’ll go for an inexpensive on-trend shirt.

      • 22

I love that…and i guess i do that… I will only buy trends on sale or at a cheaper retailer. classic pieces I will but try not to spend the extra cause I know I will get more use out of it. Thx lindsey!

I love your comment about dressing nicely as a way to honor our husbands. I have always found this to be an important way for me to show my husband that I care about him, even in a busy or stressful day with the kids. Thank y for the encouragement!
