linking up my weekly phone pics with jeannett!  i’m thepleatedpoppy on instagram if you want to follow along!

the piano moving sagas continue.  yes, i am still planning on painting it, but i need to find a more permanent home for it first before i nail down the exact color.  for now, the piano is back in the entryway.  i like it better here than before, especially with the rug under to break up all the brown wood. the beautiful aqua canvas is ℅ nap time diaries (its even better in person!!), and i made the other colorful canvas.

we have had that ugly cinderblock wall for 8 years and i have always hated it!  we had been planning all along to coat it in white stucco, but then i had an aha moment!  we decided to cover it in corrugated metal sheets.  even better… we got it free!  it was leftover building material on a job site nearby.

we’re only about halfway done, but we finished the hardest parts and the rest should go smoothly from here.  if we can find the time to finish, that is!

sean has been brewing beer with friends for a few years.  we had a group over spontaneously on memorial day for a casual time of hanging out, eating, and brewing.  if i liked the taste of beer, this would be more exciting, but spending time with friends and seeing my husband happy is worth it ;)

most of our mornings start with lily waking me up just before 7 with a kiss and a snuggle, then silas stumbles in a bit later.  but since we got back from our trip to spain, i have become a bit of a morning person, most days waking before the kids.  this is throwing them off a bit!  here’s lily, more than half asleep, totally zoned out, with silas draped across her, head under a pillow, and reading.

i don;t get enough pictures of me with my kids!  lily snapped this shot of si and i on our way to get frozen yogurt.

messy, chaotic desk.

working on a little project for the thrift store

new signs for some of our different departments!

sean and si were gone for a skateboarding trip last weekend, so the girls and i had the house to ourselves – it was so quiet!

we spent a couple successful hours garage sale-ing saturday morning (after donuts).  $23 for this whole lot!

we also did a little furniture rearranging.  a couple weeks ago i switched my dining and living rooms, but i just didn’t love it (top pic).  i do like the couches facing each other, but hated how they were uncentered on the shelves on the wall.  the bottom picture is how it is now.

see that beach ball?  its been up there for months.  i’ve decided to call it eclectic decorating.

even funnier:  i moved a chair over to take this picture, but didn’t get the ball down.  and its still there.

after church on sunday, a couple of us fixed up the manager’s office/break room at fred & betty’s.  it was one of those spaces that was so neglected, but not worth fixing up when there was so much more to be done in the store.  so glad we found the time to surprise our manager!

we spent sunday afternoon at the beach.  we played volleyball for a couple hours and oh-my-goodness i am sore!  the huffing and puffing reminded me i should probably start working out again.

time for a window change up at the thrift store!  cal poly graduation is coming up next week, so we’re honoring our graduates!

a clean, quiet house after a full, messy, loud evening with our growth group.

we did homeschooling at the coffee shop this week.  and how beautiful is lily’s handwriting?

i’m still working on small projects on our rv. this week i’m recovering the dinette seats.  thanks to my instagram and Facebook friends, you helped me decide if the top cushions should be aqua or match the bottom cushion fabric.  matching was the overall consensus.  there were lots of suggestions to do aqua piping or throw pillows, neither of which will be happening.  piping takes so much time and gets dirty the fastest (i’m going for a quick and easy project) and this rv came with 10+ throw pillows, each of which i had to move to sit down anywhere since rv seats are shallow.

while i was busy sewing cushion covers, silas had built an elaborate obstacle he was jumping over an entertaining the girls.  #nofear

i rarely take the time to clean up my kitchen completely after the kids are in bed.  most nights i go straight to my computer to catch up on emails, blog, etc.  but this night i took some time to sit and be quiet and be still for a bit.  its really hard for me to not keep busy.

so after building forts all morning while i cleaned the house, the cracked themselves up with the dress-up drawer.

plans for the weekend?  more house cleaning, and fixing up the rv more!  i’m painting the fridge with chalkboard paint – yay!

I know I have asked this question before but I have to ask again…… your sofa’s are from Ikea right? If so how long have you had them and how do you think they stand up to a busy house. I want to purchase the same white ones for my basement that we just repainted and put new carpet down but my husband is not sure about the quality of an Ikea sofa.
    Thank you for any advice.

ps. loved the beach ball would totally be something that would happen in my house :)

      hi karen!

the 3 seater sofa is from ikea, the other one is not. for the price, i highly recommend it! they have held up well and if you need to replace the cover, its only $50, which is insane. i love that i can bleach them.

Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and everything. However imagine if
you added some great photos or videos to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with images and clips, this site could certainly be one of the greatest in its niche.
    Very good blog!
