i am slowly working on a long-term remodel job for a client (here’s a peek at the inspiration board for their boys’ bathroom). the actual remodel
won’t start until this summer is now actually starting next week (!!!), but we’ve been having fun planning out every little detail in hopes that it helps the actual process go smoothly.
this family has a good size master bedroom. the structural changes are going to make a major difference: adding double doors leading to the back porch, pulling out the carpet and adding wood flooring, adding 3 small windows above the bed to bring in some natural light, and possibly adding board & batten to the bed wall. and of course a coat of bright white paint over everything!
the homeowner is going for a modern farmhouse feel (love!) and the trick to keep the modern edge from feeling too cold is to layer lots and lots of texture. we’re also pairing vintage pieces with modern for a fun mix. texture is coming in with the warm woods in the client’s own furniture, layered fabrics, gold framed vintage mirrors, and metal finishes in lighting.
i’ll keep you updated as things progress!
