what i wore – best of 2015

welcome to “what i wore” at the pleated poppy!  share with me your fashion posts and we can inspire each other!  i started this originally as motivation to get out of my daily uniform of jammies or sweats, but now i am encouraged and held accountable to put a few extra minutes aside for myself and try new things.  i’d love for you to join me!

since we’re nearing the end of the year, i thought it would be fun to share with you my favorites of my outfits of 2015!  well, that and i’ve been on vacation at my parents’ house for the last week and i haven’t taken a single pic of myself since all i’ve been wearing is lounge wear and pajamas on constant rotation.  since so many of the items i’m sharing are no longer available, i’ll just give some details about each outfit and why i chose it!

when i was looking through all my past outfits, i think this sweater and these jeans were my most worn – both from forever 21.  while forever 21 doesn’t always have the highest quality, i find it good enough and it fits nicely into my budget.  i think this year i have really found i like loose, flown tops and all things neutral.  my old lisa leonard designs jewelry and nickel & suede earrings (almost every day!) keep me easily accessorized.  i also love to layer, and this shirt extender from grace & lace is perfect.

this is one of those uniform outfits – it always works, especially on those days when you just can’t decide what to wear!  a chambray shirt and black skinnies does the trick every time.  these are items from my affordable wardrobe basics list.

another staple item for me this year is this field jacket from stitch fix.  i also have a thicker parka version with a fur lined hood, but this one works so well when i just need a light layer.  these ankle boots from steve madden have been my most worn boots as well.  most days, you can find my hair twisted in a top knot because its just so easy.

again with this sweater!  i accidentally bought it 2 sizes too large, but kinda love the oversized look.  this shirt works great any season and was my all time favorite get from golden tote.  these wedge booties are my “fancy booties”.  i love the way they look, but it turns out they are just not as comfortable as i want them to be.  i still wear them, but just being honest.

since i am home so much schooling the kids a few days a week, i still do my best to just get dressed.  some days, a t-shirt and jeans is all i can muster, but keeping the proportions right (loose top, fitted bottoms) helps it to not feel too sloppy.

i forgot to drink my v-8 this day ;)  i rarely wear this much color, but i love this persimmon color with the navy gingham shirt.

this is another outfit on steady rotation, especially for home days.  this cardigan feels so robe-like and you know i like to be cozy.

v-neck shirts are a staple item for me – so comfy and the most flattering neckline for me.  contrasting the uber casual jeans and tee with a sparkly necklace is a favorite trick of mine, too.

i love a good tunic!  i like to wear this one with leggings, distressed denim shorts, and of course jeans.

and i don’t share my lounge wear too often here anymore since its really what i try to get away from, but i actually felt decently stylish in this outfit and honestly wear it often.  maybe more often than i should ;)
