i’m turning the big 3-5. and now i suddenly feel old. i mean, 35 is old, right? (sorry to those of you who are 35+! just processing here…) i always say that 28 is the perfect age – still young and in your 20′s, but old enough to have life experience and be taken seriously. but 35? old. its funny, i don’t feel 35. i mean, physically, going up the stairs, i definitely feel 35, but i just feel like how have i lived this long already?! sean and i have been together almost half of my life now, and i think thats pretty cool.

aaaaaanywhooo…. how about a little birthday celebration?! because even if i don’t like getting older, i still like to celebrate!

this will be my 2nd insta-sale and i’m so excited! are insta-sales new to you? do you have any questions? well, i’m here to help ;)

what is an insta-sale? an insta-sale takes place on instagram. yes, you have to be on instagram for this one – sorry! the host (me) posts pictures and descriptions of the items they have for sale. if the people following the host want to buy some of the goodies, they have to bid on the item they want. i always post the description and the price, so you’re not bidding against each other for a higher price, you’re getting a super low price and you just have to be the fastest bidder! its really fun!

how do i bid? just be the first to leave your paypal email address in the comments section of the item you want. easy peasy. have your phone charged and your typing fingers ready at 4pm pst sharp!

how many items will be for sale? this sale is going to be huge – over 50 items will be for sale!

how big of a discount will you be offering? there will not be one set discount, but each item will be discounted differently. some will be 15% off, some will be over 50% off!

how do i pay? shortly after the sale is over, you will be invoiced via the email address you leave. please pay immediately.

what items will be for sale? a little bit of everything: ties, clutches, pouches, bags, blankets and more!

what about shipping? shipping is a flat rate of $5 and can be combined with multiple purchases. the only exception are messenger bags, which will be $10 for shipping (those suckers are big!).

any tips? i suggest doing a little copy/paste of your paypal email addy so all you have to do when you want to bid is paste. no typing out long email addresses! also, pretty please do not bid on any item you don’t intend to pay for.

easy peasy slumber party

simple slumber party

i know i’m a bit behind, but i wanted to share with you a super easy party i threw for gracie’s 9th birthday last month.

she started with high hopes of having a horse party, complete with lessons for all her friends. and that dream was quickly squashed.

since we’re not bajillionaires, we had decided to cut back on all our kids’ birthday parties this year and go simple (read: cheap).

so i slyly suggested a slumber party with her 3 closest friends and she took the bait!

i sent out a simple email invite, and did no decorating other than getting the slumbering room ready.

since the girls already have 2 twin beds in their room all we had to add was our queen size air mattress. a little rearranging of beds, and hanging and old birthday banner, and the room was party ready!

gracie loves horses (hence the horse party idea) so we still incorporated them into her party. we live down the street from cal poly and they have a ton of horses there for us to visit.

this is my favorite time of year to go because all the babies are being born! i think we saw over 15 of them!

these horses are always so friendly and come right up to the fence and let us love on them.

even the mamas are super gentle.

we also incorporated a little “giving back” into her party, so we wrapped up some store bought cookies and headed downtown to pass them out to homeless people. a couple of the girls had never done it before and were nervous, but soon became comfortable and joined right in!

i let gracie choose whatever she wanted for dinner so we had pancakes with strawberries and whip cream!

and for dessert i made some more trix crispies because i had leftovers from our batch we brought to school. and because i wanted more of them.

earlier in the week i had made all the girls matching jammie pants from vintage sheets i had in my stash. no tutorial, sorry. they all fit kind of awkwardly but there were no complaints, just a lot of tugging at the sagging rears ;) thats what i get for doing things without a pattern!

the rest of the night was spent making friendship bracelets, drawing and watching a movie on their beds.

and its not a slumber party without popcorn!

in the morning, we made homemade donuts and then the girls played for a couple more hours.

it was so easy and inexpensive! this was such a great age to do this. the girls loved it and so did i – i was hands free the whole evening after dinner!
