what i wore

ok friends, let’s have a little chat.  yep, you.  we need to talk.  don’t just scroll down to the bottom of this post and add your link, then be on your merry way.  read this please.

i started what i wore forever ago.  my reason for doing it was not to grow my blog.  it was not to create a link party.  i did it because i needed help.  i needed to value myself a little bit more, remember i was not only a mom, but a woman.  a woman who wanted to look pretty every once in awhile.  but i lacked motivation.  and that is why i started taking pictures of myself and posting them on my blog.  i posted everything i wore, even if it was pajamas, or sean’s sweatshirt. but it got better.  i started putting on clothes i felt better in because i knew i was going to post pictures of it, and it was starting to get a little embarrassing to share pics of my pi’s.

flash forward a few years later, and i am so thankful for what wiww is now!  i so enjoy the comments and emails i get from women from around the country, how they needed just a little bit of extra motivation to try new things, push themselves a little, and feel better about themselves!

so why the big talk?  because i think (on a very small note) this is turning into something else other than what i intended it to be.  for the most part, i’m fine with being flexible.   really, my only thought is that the posts that are linked up here are fashion centric.  it is so fun to check out other posts and get new ideas.  and yes, we all enjoy a little bit of extra traffic from this.  don’t lie ;)  but here’s where i’m getting sad: i’m getting several link-ups each week that are making me feel like i’m being taken advantage of.  please don’t link up your giveaways, unless you’re giving away something to do with fashion.  please only link up new posts, not the 5 posts that you also linked up last week and the week before.  that feels yucky to me.  the great thing about the link-up is that my readers get to be inspired each week by a new group of posts, and don’t have to weed through the ones they already saw last week.  and the week before.

so thats it!  please only link new, fashion-centric posts and i won’t have to waste my time deleting them this week.  i know this doesn’t apply to most of you, but i also wanted you to hear my heart in why i do what i do here with wiww.

and now on to what i wore!

what i wore

welcome to what i wore!  if you’re new here, yay!  wiw is a fun place for outfit inspiration, but also a great place to find motivation.  it is amazing how putting 10 minutes into yourself in the morning can change the way you feel about your day.  on the days that i stay in my jammies (which are more often than i like to admit), i have a lazier attitude and less motivation to get things done.  but when i’m feeling good about how i look, i’m ready for errands, coffee dates, or just answering my door (in something other than said jammies).  if you’re ready to take the plunge, i encourage you to join us.  start taking daily pictures of whatever you’re wearing, whether its yoga pants or work clothes.  once you are keeping yourself accountable to the act of taking pictures, you will want to improve upon what you see in those pictures.  putting on jeans instead of yoga pants, or adding a scarf to your normal oxford and blazer rut… you will see a change!

also, if you are new here, this is not just a fashion blog!  i love to share my home and diy projects, too!  stay for awhile and take a look around!

i’ve been leaning towards the uber casual lately, so adding a bit of accessories here and there helps me not feel like too much of a slob!

striped top – forever 21 \\  jeans – super old, but oh so comfy \\  converse – nordstrom rack \\  floral infinity scarf – my (now closed) shop

since i knew with our fickle spring weather that the scarf wouldn’t last all day, i added a couple necklaces underneath.

monogram necklace – jennifer dahl designs \\ open circle necklace – lisa leonard designs

and then it was 80*… so the shorts had to come out.  these ones were bought on clearance at forever 21.  the waist is about 5 sizes too big, but somehow these still fit on the thighs… not sure what that says?  and the great shorts length debate continues for me.

this is one of my favorite outfits.  truly.  jeans and a white t-shirt are my favorite!  i decided to get crazy and add some new gold hoop earrings, and i felt way fancy in them, even with my ripped up jeans!
