what i wore

welcome to “what i wore” at the pleated poppy!  share with me your fashion posts and we can inspire each other!  i started this originally as motivation to get out of my daily uniform of jammies or sweats, but now i am encouraged and held accountable to put a few extra minutes aside for myself and try new things.  i’d love for you to join me!

this week i got my new golden tote in the mail, so the outfits below each feature a golden tote item.   here’s some info on golden tote:  it is an online boutique that sends you a tote of styles, you pick 1 to 2 items, they surprise you with others! i think this new kind of shopping is great for those of us who hate shopping, or for people more like me who enjoy shopping but have a hard time stepping out of their fashion comfort zone.  when you sign up they send you a personalized tote based on your style. you can choose to receive 2-3 items a tote for $49 (a $200 value) or 5-7 items for $149 (up to $600 value).

i have been eying this dress by merrick’s art for awhile!  i love the simplicity of a swing dress, but even more how forgiving it is!  the best part of this dress for me is the length – i find it so hard to find a dress that hits my knees!

dress – golden tote \\  converse – off broadway shoes \\  hat – local surf shop

IMG_0063

this sweatshirt is a great mix of casual and stylish.  you can’t tell well from the pictures, but the fabric is a lovely oatmeal color and the sleeves & sides have a hint of golden glimmer!

sweatshirt – golden tote \\  jeans – stitch fix \\  tennies – forever 21

IMG_0071

can you see the pale gold?

earrings – nickel & suede \\  necklace – gwen delicious

i’ve said before that maxi skirts are like dressy yoga pants, and this skirt is like the dressy version of sweats!  so stinkin’ cozy!  i kept it casual with a t-shirt and flip flops.

skirt – golden tote \\  shirt – target \\  flip flops – rainbow sandals

IMG_0046

yay for another long top!

top – golden tote \\  knit ponte pants – stitch fix \\  boots – piperlime

IMG_0030

this plaid shirt is perfect for fall – lightweight cotton and perfect for layering.  the best part:  it fully covers my bum.

shirt – golden tote \\  jeans – target \\  boots – steve madden \\  cowl – always very \\  earrings – lisa leonard designs

IMG_0040

same top, but styled a little differently.

top – golden tote \\ sweater – forever 21 \\  ponte pants – stitch fix \\  boots – piperlime

IMG_0010

this top is a perfect example of why i love golden tote.  it fits great and is super comfy, but it pushes me just enough out of my comfort zone with colors i wouldn’t normally try, like the neon yellow.

top – golden tote \\  shorts – target \\  sandals – old navy

IMG_0012

and it works perfectly with my 31 bits bracelet!

bracelet – 31 bits \\  earrings – lisa leonard designs
