what i wore

welcome to “what i wore” at the pleated poppy!  share with me your fashion posts and we can inspire each other!  i started this originally as motivation to get out of my daily uniform of jammies or sweats, but now i am encouraged and held accountable to put a few extra minutes aside for myself and try new things.  i’d love for you to join me!

i’ve had this top/cardigan/zip up thing for awhile and i finally am figuring out how to style it.  i definitely don’t like it zipped up, but i love it loose and open, and the cotton is super thick and comfy.  i wonder how many times i used the word comfy, or cozy?  clearly, its a top priority for me!

this outfit is just kind of… meh.  i needed a little extra warmth beyond the dress, but i don’t think the chambray shirt was quite it.  maybe just a thin cardigan next time.

just a super cozy (there’s that word again!) outfit again.  causal yet pulled together.

i think i get more compliments on this shirt from golden tote more than any other item i own!  its super flowy and forgiving, and oh so comfortable.  i like the contrast of the feminine top with the distressed jeans.  the jewelry is simple – gold hammered hoops, a gorgeous gold agate wrapped necklace, and a leather cuff.

this outfit is eerily familiar, no?  yes, sometimes my own outfits inspire my own outfits.  and sometimes, when my clothes are still lying on the floor from the day before, its easier to only choose a couple new items and re-wear the rest.  #honesty  i’ve had this shirt for years and love both the ruffly flowers embellishing the from and the cute bow on the back.  because the shirt is already so busy, i opted out of a necklace, but dressed up my wrists a bit and chose bolder earrings.

a casual sunday outfit – it worked for church, lounging after, hanging out with friends, and dinner out.   i chose a more fitted pair of jeans to balance out the loose top and sweater.

a couple days a week i work at our school’s thrift store doing a variety of jobs.  i’m their business consultant and supervisor, but i also get to do fun things like their window and product displays!  so on thrift store days, i have to dress a little more casual in clothes that can take a bit of a beating.  denim does the trick!  denim on denim works best when they contrast – otherwise i’d look like i’m wearing coveralls (think grease lightning).

a casual day home for a long day of homeschooling means casual clothes for me.  to get out of the too cozy rut, i added this sparkly sweatshirt – and was still cozy!  jeans and white converse are my standard uniform, and they are definitely a regular for our home days.
