what i wore

welcome to “what i wore” at the pleated poppy!  share with me your fashion posts and we can inspire each other!  i started this originally as motivation to get out of my daily uniform of jammies or sweats, but now i am encouraged and held accountable to put a few extra minutes aside for myself and try new things.  i’d love for you to join me!

so i still have yet to find a decent place to take pictures in our rental house, but this is the best i’ve got!  our room is on the bottom floor but has a second story deck over the one window in our room, so the lighting is really tricky and generally theres this dumb stripe of light across my torso.  its whatever.

Navy Gingham Shirt Roundup (and what i wore link-up)

welcome to “what i wore” at the pleated poppy!  share with me your fashion posts and we can inspire each other!  i started this originally as motivation to get out of my daily uniform of jammies or sweats, but now i am encouraged and held accountable to put a few extra minutes aside for myself and try new things.  i’d love for you to join me!

we headed back out on vacation again last week (i’m not complaining!), so don’t have any new pics to share with you yet again!  but i did post a shot on Instagram of an outfit i wore while on my parents’ boat (other than this i only wore a bathing suit and pj’s), and my Fourth of July outfit (with the kids).

in the absence of my own pics, i wanted to share with you another round up of my favorites, this time of navy gingham button-up shirts and different ways to wear them!

this is how i most often wear my own navy gingham shirt: american classic with ankle length jeans and white converse, shirt knotted at the waist.  my shirt was from forever 21 but i see they just stopped carrying it – darn!

i have yet to try tying a shirt around my waist for fear of looking too grunge, but paired with skinny jeans and d’orsay flats, i think this looks so cute! // source //

this shirt is more of a buffalo check than gingham, but great nonetheless.  the details of the booties and accessories stand out against the classic shirt.  // source //

this outfit works best in late fall and winter.  i love warming up the cool colors of the outfit with the warm brown boots.  the slightly cropped sweater works great with the untucked shirt peeking out below.  // source //

what i love about this outfit is that its so unexpected – the soft skirt pairs so nicely with the button down shirt, but then the ankle boots really surprise me!  the olive green bag and aviators keep the overall look from being too feminine.  // source //

oh this is a good one!  white jeans paired with just about anything is a favorite.  i love the cognac leather accents, especially those ankle strap heels!  // source //

i would never EVER have paired any of these items together, but man they work so well!  the pleated olive green skirt with an eggplant skinny belt look so great with the navy gingham button-up shirt, especially when finished off with the sparkly statement necklace.  // source //

um, wow.  who knew that gingham could look so hot?  the leather skirt, layered tops, chunky accessories, spikey shoes all have something to do with it, but really i think its the absolute confidence exuded that pulls it all together.  // source //

another super classic outfit, a shirt layered with a drapey cardigan, skinny jeans, and heeled booties.  // source //

pattern mixing at its finest:  gingham with leopard – yes, please!  // source //

this is another outfit i could see myself in.  i’m a jeans and white tee kind of girl, and i’ll throw on a baseball hat any day!  // source //
