the conditions were perfect (& a winner!)

any flight of the conchord fans out there? business time anyone?  sorry, but s.t.u.p.i.d. (can’t say it, but i can spell it) humor gets me every time!

anyhoo… last saturday was gift wrapping day for our family.  i say the conditions were perfect because we wanted nothing to do with the blustery outdoors and staying cozy inside with the fire going was perfect.

and a quick side note, this is a small glimpse of our front yard. from the weed grass, to the gnarled old rose trees, to the rotting porch posts, it needs a ton of work, so it doesn’t get featured much around here.  i just try to pretend its not even there.  the dead plants on the porch don’t help too much for the welcoming effect.

ok, back to our regular scheduled programming.  we had nearly all of our shopping done and sean is our master wrapper.  while he was wrapping up all the bought gifts, the girls and i were wrapping their handmade gifts for friends and family.

they made yarn flower pins, yarn wrapped ornaments, paintings, snowflakes, and beaded necklaces – they spent the last few weeks crafting at every chance they could!

the tags were handwritten by each of them, really mostly by lily.  her handwriting is beautifully adorable in all its kindergarten-ness!

and the big ‘un can’t concentrate on a thing without that tongue out!

after a couple hours the boy woke up and we celebrated his nap with cookies and milk.

the day was made complete by pandora playing “rockin’ christmas” all day, accompanied by trader joe’s star cookies, candy cane joe-joe’s, and joy’s blondies (i die!).

and now, after a final trip to target, our shopping is complete!  i think i’ll celebrate with a blondie.  or a peanut butter ball.  or a candy cane joe-joe.
