what i wore wednesday

well this week is going faster than i have time for ;)

i am once again short on pictures.  a friend of mine coined this week as “boutique week” as i will be hosting another stitch market tomorrow and friday, but really, this has been “boutique month” with all the prep and recovery for/from the queen bee and now the stitch market.  its all good, fun craziness, but craziness nonetheless!

while i’m on the topic, if you’re local, i’d love it if you joined me and 16 other local artists (yes, our biggest market yet!) as we sell our handmade wares for your holiday shopping delight!  to aid add to that delight, there will be wine and munchies served, including cupcakes from on a larke cupcake shop – so super yummy (and i would know – i sampled every flavor last time!).

now back to our regularly scheduled programming…

even though i am cozied up in my sweats as i type this late at night, and i may have been in my husband’s jammies and sweatshirt until late in the morning earlier today, i did get dressed today.  and that is what wiww is all about – just making the effort to actually get dressed!  while i ran errands today, i could have easily gone in my comfy yoga pants and sweatshirt, but instead i threw on some cuffed jeans, sandals, and a cute flowy top.  doing this wiww for so long has made getting dressed easier for the most part.  on the days i don’t feel like getting dressed, i can now go to my staple comfy-but-still cute outfits.  after taking a ridiculous amount of pictures of my outfits, i am able to see what actually looks good and what i should do differently next time.  i know this isn’t for everyone, but it really has been so helpful for me, so i hope it can be for you as well!

top – anthro

tank – nations outiftters

jeans & scarf – forever 21

boots – steve madden

after seeing this picture, i think it may be time that i brave adding another accessory: bigger earrings.  i wear the same fake diamond studs every single day and i think my outfits could handle a little more oomph in the earring department, yes?

yes, i got the boots.  i’m kinda crazy about the stitching up the side of the zippers.  i braved the black friday crazies at the mall and got my boots for a great deal.  today i sent back the 9 pairs of ill fitting boots to piperlime.  yay for free shipping both ways!  boo for trying on a bazillion pairs of boots before finding a pair that fit.

wanna link up with me?  yay!  just follow the rules:

1. link to your specific blog post, not your blog’s main page. ex: http://thepleatedpoppy.com/2011/09/what-i-wore-wednesday-fall-inspiration/ not http://thepleatedpoppy.com/blog/.
2. please only link outfit related posts. your craft project may be adorable, or that may be a great giveaway, but this linky is for outfit related posts only – thank you!
3. please link back here to me so all this wiww stuff makes sense to your readers. and its just nice to do ;) grab a button from my sidebar (see the code box?).
4. check out as many links as possible! i am constantly inspired by so many outfits each week! and you will definitely find some new blogs that you’ve never stumbled upon before – so fun!
i’m also linking up with nina of momma go round for “real momma, real style” – join me there, mkay?

Momma Go Round

family olympics!

for the last 3 or 4 years, we have held a “cheney family olympics” either after thanksgiving or christmas, depending on the year (since we switch back and forth between families and holidays).

it is always so much fun!  we have some things that we are consistent with every year, and other things we change up.

we always have 2 teams, spouses are divided and the teams are made pretty even with boys and girls and also toddlers, teens, and adults – it is very competitive!

next year we are going to get t shirts for the teams or something so we can more easily identify who is on which team.

we always start in the park across the street from my in-laws’ with our opening ceremonies and the national anthem.

then uncle vito leads us in several very awkward stretching exercises.  the one above involved bouncing and arm circles i think…

penalty kicks at the soccer goal

pumpkin rolling contest

swing long jump.  he who has the longest legs always wins.

teeter totter log roll – this year we added in the doubles competition

the time game – a timer is set for 3 minutes and each team starts at a marker, walks around, and tries to end at the marker at exactly 3 minutes, by counting on their own

“nerd” shooting (how silas says nerf) – try to hit the target on your teammate’s head

sidewalk pictionary

musical chairs

water balloon toss

not pictured:

punkin’ chunkin’ (throwing a pumpkin as far as possible)

name that tune

guys playing tag/tackle football

hair braiding competition

ladder ball

washer toss

one of the highlights of our year!  its so wonderful being part of a fun family!
